On the morning of July 3, 2025, Mr. Cheng Liwei, President of China Mining Association (CMA), and his delegation visited the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in China at the invitation of the Embassy. They held friendly talks with H.E. Mr. Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, Ambassador of Iran to China.

President Cheng Liwei first expressed gratitude for the warm reception by the Iranian Embassy and cordially invited His Excellency the Ambassador, the Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, and representatives of Iranian mining enterprises to attend the upcoming China Mining Conference and Exhibition to be held in Tianjin this year. Cheng emphasized that China-Iran relations have endured and grown stronger over time. Particularly in recent years, frequent high-level exchanges have elevated bilateral relations to new heights. The CMA and the Iranian Embassy in China have also maintained positive interactions, having conducted in-depth exchanges on topics such as mineral resource development and technical cooperation. He underscored that the China Mining Conference and Exhibition, as a premier global mining event, distinguishes itself through its comprehensive coverage of the entire mining industry chain and its focus on facilitating in-depth exchanges on international and domestic mining trends. The Conference not only focuses on upstream segments like geological exploration and mining development but also spans midstream and downstream sectors and supporting services, including smelting and processing, mining machinery and equipment, mineral product processing and trade, mining investment and financing, and resource recycling. This "all-encompassing platform, from exploration to market, from capital to technology," provides mining policymakers, enterprises, and investors from Iran and other countries with a unique perspective to grasp global industry dynamics and identify comprehensive cooperation opportunities. Leveraging its coverage of the full mining industry chain, the CMA continuously promotes the alignment of China's advanced technologies and machinery with global high-quality resources. Cheng expressed hope to seize the opportunity presented by this Conference to jointly create a new pattern of mutually beneficial and sustainable mining development with Iran.

Ambassador Fazli extended a warm welcome to President Cheng Liwei and his delegation and expressed sincere appreciation for the longstanding cooperation between the two sides. He pointed out that the mining industry is not only a pillar of Iran's economic development but also a strategic cornerstone for safeguarding national security and achieving sustainable development. Against the backdrop of the synergistic advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Iran Comprehensive Cooperation Plan, bilateral mining cooperation is poised for historic opportunities. The Ambassador stated that the Iranian Embassy in China will actively participate in this year's China Mining Conference and Exhibition. He pledged to actively coordinate with relevant Iranian government departments and major mining enterprises to form a delegation to attend the event. During the Conference, the delegation will comprehensively showcase Iran's mineral investment opportunities and technological cooperation needs. Ambassador Fazli noted the complementary nature of Iranian and Chinese mineral resources. He expressed hope that the two countries could engage in practical cooperation in areas such as transportation investment, new energy, mining scientific research, and technological equipment. The goal is to jointly maintain the stability and prosperity of the global mineral resource market, ensuring that the benefits of mining development extend to the peoples of both nations and the broader region.

Also present at the meeting were Mr. Hamid Adeli, Commercial Counsellor of the Iranian Embassy in China; Mr. Yaser Bahrami, Second Secretary; Mr. Zhao Kuitao, Deputy Secretary-General of China Mining Association; and relevant staff from the CMA's International Cooperation Department.
