On the afternoon of June 30, 2025, Che Changbo, Secretary General of China Mining Association (CMA), and his delegation visited the Embassy of the Republic of Nicaragua in China. They held a friendly meeting with Nicaraguan Ambassador to China Ramio Jose Cruz Flores, who is known in Chinese as Kong Leran, and other officials.
Secretary General Che Changbo first expressed gratitude for the gracious reception by the Nicaraguan Embassy. He briefed the Ambassador on the preparations for this year's China Mining Conference and Exhibition and extended a formal invitation for the Ambassador to attend the event. He emphasized that as a globally influential mining event successfully held for 26 consecutive sessions, China Mining Conference and Exhibition serves as a vital platform for international mining exchanges and cooperation. It also acts as a bridge connecting the mining sectors of China and Nicaragua to explore opportunities and achieve mutual benefits. China Mining Association stands ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation with Nicaragua in mineral exploration, development, and mining investment through this platform, thereby promoting the shared socio-economic development of both countries.
Ambassador Kong Leran expressed appreciation for the visit by Secretary General Che Changbo and the longstanding cooperation between both sides. He confirmed that representatives of the Nicaraguan Embassy would attend this year's China Mining Conference and Exhibition and would actively facilitate the participation of delegates from Nicaragua’s energy and mining sectors. Nicaragua hopes to leverage this year's event as an opportunity to establish closer bilateral cooperation mechanisms in mineral exploration and development and to advance pragmatic collaboration between Nicaragua and the CMA. He noted that while Nicaragua possesses abundant mineral resources, it faces significant technological gaps in exploration and development. Consequently, he proposed expanding cooperation with the CMA in areas such as mineral exploration technology, equipment application, and talent development to elevate Nicaragua’s overall mining capabilities.
Also present at the meeting were Humberto Collado, Commercial Counsellor of the Nicaraguan Embassy in China; Zhao Kuitao, Deputy Secretary General of China Mining Association; and relevant staff from the CMA International Cooperation Department.
