On the afternoon of May 22, Che Changbo, Secretary-General of the China Mining Association (CMA), met with a delegation of government representatives from Quebec and British Columbia (BC) in Canada. The meeting focused on deepening China-Canada mining cooperation, participating in the 27th China Mining Conference and Exhibition (CHINA MINING 2025), and technical collaboration between Chinese and Canadian enterprises.

Secretary-General Che Changbo first extended a warm welcome to the Canadian guests from the two provinces. He highlighted the solid foundation of China-Canada mining cooperation, noting the strong economic complementarity between the two nations and the broad prospects for bilateral collaboration in the mining sector. He briefed the guests on the overview of CMA, with a focus on preparations for the CHINA MINING 2025. He extended a warm invitation to industry representatives from the two Canadian provinces to attend the event, aiming to jointly advance strategies for mining development and promote high-quality growth of the mining sector in both countries.

Bard Nordby, Counsellor of the Canadian Embassy in China and Director of the Quebec Government Offices in Beijing and Qingdao, expressed gratitude for CMA’s warm reception and looked forward to the cooperation prospects in the mining sector. He mentioned that although Quebec and BC are located on the east and west coasts of Canada respectively, both are major mining provinces with rich experience in responsible mining and sustainable development. They are willing to build a cooperation platform for China-Canada mining enterprises through provincial government channels. He also extended an invitation for CMA to organize Chinese mining enterprises to participate in the 2026 PDAC Conference and visit the two provinces to further expand the cooperation scope between mining enterprises of the two countries.

Yao Chengye, Director of the BC China Office, Huang Yong, Senior Business Manager, Zhao Kuitao, Deputy Secretary-General of CMA, and relevant personnel from the International Cooperation Department and Exhibition Department of CMA participated in the meeting.
