On 29 July 2025, Wu Guohua, Vice President of China Mining Association (CMA), led a delegation on a visit to the Embassy of the Federative Republic of Brazil in China. They held a friendly and productive meeting with Rodrigo Mendes Araujo, Counsellor for Energy and Intellectual Property of Brazil. The two sides fully exchanged views on matters including the participation of a Brazilian delegation in the 2025 (27th) China Mining Conference and Exhibition, deepening cooperation in the mining sector between China and Brazil, and promoting exchanges between mining associations and enterprises of the two countries.

Wu Guohua first expressed gratitude to the Brazilian Embassy for its warm reception and presented a formal letter of invitation. On behalf of President Cheng Liwei, he sincerely invited H.E. Mr. Marcos Bezerra Abbott Galv?o, Ambassador of Brazil to China, Mr. Alexandre Silveira, Minister of Mines and Energy of Brazil, and representatives of Brazilian mining enterprises to attend the China Mining 2025, scheduled for 23-25 October in Tianjin, China.

He introduced the Conference as one of the world's four premier mining events, serving as a vital platform for global mining policy dialogue, a showcase for cutting-edge technologies, and a key nexus for international cooperation. The Conference's main activities include an Opening Ceremony, Keynote Session, Sub Sessions, Country Promotions, Mining Machinery Equipment Expo, and Mining Rights Exhibition and Auction. The exhibition area spans 30,000-40,000 square meters, prominently featuring mining machinery and equipment, advanced mining technologies, and the latest scientific research achievements. To realize the vision of a "Perennial Mining Conference", the official conference website provides access to recordings of past forums, virtual exhibition halls, and country pavilions.

Vice President Wu pointed out that China and Brazil are both major agricultural and mining powers with close bilateral ties. He highlighted that last year, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the bilateral relationship was elevated to a "China-Brazil Community with a Shared Future for a More Just World and a More Sustainable Planet". Furthermore, the National Development and Reform Commission of China and the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Brazil have successively signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Mining Sustainable Development and the Action Plan for Promoting Mining Sustainable Development Cooperation 2025-2026, laying a solid political foundation and action framework for bilateral mining cooperation.

Against this backdrop, Vice President Wu emphasized that high-level Brazilian participation in the Conference holds special significance. The CMA looks forward to leveraging this Conference as an opportunity to promote the deep involvement of the Brazilian mining sector and facilitate practical cooperation between enterprises of both countries in technology, investment, trade, and other fields.

Rodrigo Mendes Araujo welcomed Vice President Wu and the delegation, expressing sincere appreciation for the CMA's invitation. He inquired about various aspects during the meeting, affirming that the Conference is a highly influential industry event and that the Brazilian Embassy would actively participate. He noted that numerous Chinese mining enterprises have undertaken significant investment projects in Brazil in recent years, laying a solid and dynamic foundation for mining cooperation between the two countries. Araujo also put forward two suggestions: the Embassy is willing to actively facilitate the establishment of direct and efficient communication channels between the CMA and the Brazilian Mining Association to promote close alignment and cooperation; both sides should actively promote mutual promotion and deep participation in each other's major mining exhibitions and conferences. This would foster two-way interaction, creating broader cooperation opportunities and practical platforms for mining enterprises and other stakeholders from both countries.
